The Opranic Difference
Infrared, refined since 2009.
Opranic is an infrared-heating specialist based in Stockholm. Since 2009, we have tested, compared, serviced and refined radiant-heating products for outdoor, indoor and professional use. That experience informs every product in our range.

Our story
Infrared expertise since 2009
Experience that makes itself felt.
Many businesses sell infrared heaters; far fewer make them. We have designed and manufactured our own infrared-heating products since 2009. That experience continues to guide us as the range grows.
Working with the technology over the years has taught us which designs age well and which materials withstand Nordic outdoor conditions, year after year. This knowledge cannot be built in a quarter or through a single product launch. It comes from returning to the same challenges with a better understanding each time.
Experience in the field has also taught us what fails. We have examined warranty claims, identified the components that fail first and learnt the difference between a heater that costs little to make and one that is economical to own. Those lessons have shaped the principles we follow when designing and making our heaters today.
We publish specifications, features and recommended prices so customers can assess performance, design, durability and support on their merits. Clear technical information supports thoughtful Scandinavian design, whether for one patio or a complete installation.

Swedish design
Designed in Sweden, built to last
We design every heater in Stockholm, where we decide its appearance, construction and materials. Each is produced in Europe to our own specifications.
Each season of use in the Nordic climate gives us something to apply to the next revision, from material choices to the smallest construction detail. If something falls short in everyday use, we change it.
This takes more time and costs more. It also explains how our heaters look and how well they last.

The complete system
Designed to work as a whole
A heater’s performance depends on the combined effect of its emitter, reflector geometry, housing, electronics, controls, materials and construction.
We develop these components together, drawing on testing and everyday use for each revision. Every decision considers how the materials interact, how the structure responds to changes in temperature and how the heater performs after years outdoors in a northern European climate.

- 01Housing
Extruded aluminium in alloy AA 6063, sourced through a documented European production chain.
- 02Reflector
Directs and shapes the radiation to deliver focused warmth quickly, with very low glare.
- 03Element and quartz
Premium-grade carbon fibre is sealed inside a high-quality quartz glass tube, designed to work horizontally or vertically.
- 04Grille
Allows radiant heat to pass through while protecting the element.
- 05Electronics and controls
Electronics and controls are specified and tested at every level, to the same quality requirements as the rest of the heater.
IR-X Carbon Black™ is the complete radiant system at the heart of every heater we make. It combines carbon fibre, quartz glass, operating temperature and reflector geometry. The quartz transmits the radiation; the reflector shapes and directs it.
The system performs only when every component does.
Materials and production
European production, from material to finished heater.
Aluminium is a main structural material in our outdoor heaters. Most heaters on the market are specified using a factory’s finished housing, with no visibility of the metal itself. Our aluminium is part of a documented European production chain.
Primary billet
Production begins with primary aluminium billet in alloy AA 6063. Each cast meets a defined specification, with its chemical composition recorded and certified.
One integrated producer
A single integrated producer supplies the billet, carrying out mining, refining, smelting and casting at one site.
Extrusion
The aluminium profiles are made close to the European factory where we build our heaters.
Heater production
This keeps a substantial part of the heater within one regional supply chain. We know the material before it becomes part of the finished product.
AA 6063 primary aluminium, certified for each cast.
From bauxite to billet, supplied by one integrated producer.
One country for billet production, extrusion and heater manufacture.
Management systems cover quality, the environment, energy, and occupational health and safety. We can provide material documentation on request.
For us, European production means knowing what goes into a heater and how it gets there. That responsibility extends beyond final assembly.

Independent research
Tested by LTU and Vattenfall, down to −30 °C
We worked with Vattenfall, one of Europe’s largest energy companies, to test infrared heating for removing ice from wind turbine blades.
Luleå University of Technology conducted the independent study in 2019. Tests took place in a climate chamber at Arctic Falls in Piteå, with temperatures as low as −30 °C. The work was subsequently published in the Journal of Cold Regions Engineering.
The researchers compared different forms of infrared heat and found that wavelength and distance had the greatest influence on performance. The longer, medium wavelengths we used were absorbed by the surface more than they were reflected. The findings support the engineering principle behind our work with infrared heating since 2009.
ICNIRP guidelines on incoherent visible and infrared radiation provide a basis for assessing exposure to infrared radiation. Wavelength, intensity, duration of exposure and the size of the source determine which limits apply.

Design language
Designed to belong
Our outdoor heaters are designed to be visible while sitting comfortably within their surroundings. Understated proportions and clean lines give them a design language that suits a Stockholm roof terrace as naturally as a Berlin restaurant.
A well-designed heater becomes part of the architecture, sitting naturally beneath concrete, timber or steel. It should look as considered after five years as on the day it was installed. We design its form with that in mind.
This takes attention to detail. Proportions must work both at a distance and close up, and transitions between materials must be precise. Well-resolved details go unnoticed; poor ones are immediately apparent.
It is one reason many of Europe’s leading hotels and restaurants choose Opranic.
The element is one part of the heater. Comfort depends on the system around it.

Chosen by the trade
Professional trust, earned in use
- Sonepar / ElektroskandiaElectrical wholesaler
- AhlsellElectrical and HVAC wholesaler
- RexelElectrical wholesaler
- DahlHVAC wholesaler
Any brand can make claims about performance. An independent wholesaler’s decision to stock a product, with the whole market to choose from, cannot be bought.
Sweden’s leading electrical and HVAC wholesalers stock our products. Electricians and installers rely on these suppliers every day for project materials. Their ranges are shaped by more than advertising or price: they listen to professional customers who return products that fail to perform.
Products stay in those ranges year after year because they work in the field. We value that recognition because we cannot award it to ourselves. For consumers, Opranic is also available from established retailers.
Repeated awards from inspekto.se between 2022 and 2025.
