A commercial patio heater for central control

The Opranic PRO V70 is a commercial patio heater for restaurant terraces, hotel courtyards, rooftop bars and covered outdoor dining areas. It mounts on a wall or ceiling and is controlled through an external switching system. With a fixed 1800 W output, it has no adjustable heat settings, remote control or built-in timer. Central switching lets staff control a group of heaters from one location.

Full heat in seconds

The IR-X Carbon Black™ element reaches full output in three to five seconds. Its peak wavelength is 2.2 µm, and the Pro parabolic reflector directs radiant heat towards the seating area. The element has a rated service life of up to approximately 12,000 hours.

More heaters on the supply you already have

Each PRO V70 draws 8 A at 1800 W. A 2300 W heater draws 10 A, so the PRO V70 draws a fifth less current per unit. This lower current draw can allow more heaters within the venue’s existing electrical capacity, helping you distribute warmth more evenly across the seating area. Where a three-phase supply is available, the load can be spread across the phases.

A qualified electrician can connect each heater permanently in accordance with the manual, or it can be plugged into a socket on a switched circuit. The electrician determines how many heaters each circuit can support, taking its rating and total load into account.

Central control for the whole terrace

An external switching system turns the heaters on and off together. This could use a contactor operated by a switch at the bar, a timer, an occupancy sensor or a building management system. Staff can operate the heating centrally, with no need to adjust individual heaters. There are no heat settings or remote controls for guests to adjust. An on/off switch on the back of each heater is provided for service and commissioning.

For installations that need adjustable heat settings, remote control or a built-in timer, choose the PRO V70R. It uses the same IR-X Carbon Black element, reflector, housing and bracket.

Built for demanding environments

The powder-coated aluminium housing has painted end covers, a brushed 18/8 stainless steel grille and stainless steel screws. Its IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, so the heater can remain mounted outdoors throughout the year. Choose Jet Black or Cloud White.

Sizing the installation

As a guide, one PRO V70 serves approximately 9 m² of seating area in a sheltered spot, based on 200 W/m². Exposed sites need more heating power; a roof and side walls reduce the requirement. Mounting heaters in pairs facing each other across a table gives the most even warmth.

Mounting and minimum clearances

Mount the heater 1.8 to 2.5 m above the floor, above head height and out of reach of children. Angle it 30 to 45 degrees towards the seating area. Keep curtains, awnings and other textiles out of the path of the heat, and maintain the minimum clearances below.

Use an RCD-protected circuit outdoors. Check that the 1.9 m cable reaches the connection point from the chosen mounting position, or have the heater connected permanently by an electrician.

Running cost

At full power, one PRO V70 uses 1.8 kWh of electricity in one hour. At €0.30/kWh, that costs around €0.54 per hour per heater. Because the heater warms people and surfaces directly, the row can be switched on when guests are seated and off when they leave.

Five-year warranty

The PRO V70 comes with a five-year warranty on the heater and its electronics under normal use. The heating tube is covered for two years. Full terms are set out in the user manual.

Use in conservatories and enclosed rooms

Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2024/1103 sets requirements for electric heaters used in enclosed rooms, including electronic room temperature control with a weekly timer and open-window detection. The Opranic PRO V70 is designed for outdoor use, including covered terraces, pergolas and open conservatories. For enclosed rooms, operate it through a room thermostat that provides these functions, or choose the Opranic S50R or S70R, which meet the requirements of the regulation for portable radiant heaters.
