Norveco STAR18RS infrared patio heater for stand, wall or ceiling

The Norveco STAR18RS is a portable infrared patio heater built for flexibility. It delivers 1800 W of medium-wave infrared heat directly to people and surfaces instead of warming the surrounding air, so the warmth is felt where you sit. Use it on the included adjustable stand, or mount it on a wall or ceiling with the supplied brackets.

Control and comfort

  • Three heat settings
  • Thermostat function
  • Timer up to 9 hours
  • Remote control and LCD display

Design and safety

The housing is aluminium with plastic end caps, and the heater has IP44 protection against splashing water. An electronic tilt switch turns the heater off if it falls over while standing on the stand.

Wall or ceiling mounting: deactivating the tilt switch

When the heater is mounted on a wall or ceiling, the tilt switch must be deactivated; otherwise the display shows E3. The procedure is deliberately a little demanding, so that the switch cannot be turned off by accident.

  1. Unplug the heater and plug it in again. Have the remote control ready, as you only have a few seconds after reconnecting.
  2. As soon as the lights start circling, press the timer button (bottom right), the thermostat button (bottom left) and the level button (centre) within 2 seconds.
  3. The display now shows A or P. A means the tilt switch is active, which is the default setting.
  4. Use the + and – buttons to select P, then switch the heater off with the power button.

The tilt switch stays deactivated until you repeat the steps and select A again. The video shows the procedure:

Where to use it

Balconies, terraces, patios and outdoor seating areas. Outdoors the STAR18RS heats about 5 to 10 m², and up to 9 to 18 m² in wind-protected areas.

Running costs

At full power the heater uses 1.8 kWh per hour. Multiply this by your electricity price per kWh to get the cost per hour; the lower heat settings use less.
